ENGAGEMENTS

THE STORY:

I have known Brett since he was a young  boy when I used to give him lifts to school early each Monday morning, so it was really special to be asked to capture the moment that he proposed to the lady in his life.  He and I did a recce of the area first thing on Saturday morning and schemed and planned together.  Fortunately Leigh-Anne and I had never met, so for once I could pose as an innocent photographer strolling around and capturing the beauty of Kenmo Lake - little did she know!  It was so special to be a part of such a big moment in their lives, and I consider it a huge privilege to have been the first person to congratulate them at the beginning of this new season of their lives together.

THE STORY:

This was a day of intense stress and hysterical laughter! No one will ever convince me that being the photographer of a surprise engagement is boring!

A botched attempt at going up Sani Pass in a two wheel drive (NOT my idea) which meant a U-turn on the pass to get back down to the border post (bad for my nerves as last week I nearly rolled my bakkie down a bank!) Brainstorming to make an urgent plan as we absolutely HAD to be up there in time to set up, and time was running out. Then splitting up our group so we could hitch hike up the pass, carting camera equipment, snacks and props..... Setting up in the usual wind at the top of the pass and then using my zoom lens to identify the vehicle of the most important couple as it crawled up the pass a while later. Amy and Frenchie, you truly have the most dedicated and determined group of friends who simply cannot take "no" for an answer!! This one will definitely go down in history.

THE STORY:

It was absolutely worth hiding in a spider-infested cupboard for a whole hour waiting for all the role players to get into position for the BIG moment! Tiaan, you are a gem and it was so exciting to be in on the secret. Congratulations to an amazing couple!!
